Hi, I'm Jennifer and I have a life-long passion for horses and appreciate the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, as well as the lives of their people through equine bodywork and massage. My husband and I live in Salvisa, KY and have two beautiful children and a rescue dog. After 20 years in marketing, in 2021 I decided to write in a plot twist and pursue my dream of a career with horses. My teacher and mentor, Kim Kizzier Sherrodd, has helped me to focus on a whole horse approach to bodywork - listening to the horse being at the forefront.
I am a graduate of the School of Applied Integrative Therapies. I am a 1 Hoof Surefoot Certified Practitioner, and have a passion for continuing education. I am also a Level II Reiki practitioner. As I continue down my learning path I am only more convinced that horses are magical healers - and I am so glad I can give back just a tiny bit of what they have given to me over the years.
My history with horses
I got my first horse, Glory, when I was 5 years old. She was the best Christmas present I have ever received and I still think of her often. She was the perfect babysitter - a relatively short, solid black, Arabian/Tennessee Walker cross (we think). She and I competed in 4-H, her affinity for trotting made her difficult to ride in performance classes, but great at speed trotting races! She was my shoulder to cry on, my slow and steady and taught me so much about communicating with horses.
When I was 15 and my parents decided I might actually be into this horse thing, we purchased a grey OTTB named Gigglin Lady. This was before OTTBs were popular - so I'm basically a trendsetter from way back (sarcasm is my 2nd language). She loved to go fast and would jump anything in her path - I'm not sure how I'm still alive, but I do have tales to tell.
I rode on the equestrian team at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, as well as the Midway University team when I came to Kentucky in 1997. Life took me in another direction and I started my marketing career after taking a break from college. I casually took lessons over my years away from horses, and snuck in rides with any friends that had a horse. My desire to be around horses has never wavered, they're my one constant passion. I value communication, building trust, and spending time with horses and I'd love the opportunity to apply my bodywork skills with your horse. We'll all come out better for it!
